· Advanced distance vector protocol
· Cisco proprietary protocol
· EIGRP replaces IGRP
· EIGRP was developed in order to have a classless version of IGRP. So the protocol could include classless and variable length subnet masks (CIDR[classless inter domain routing] and VLSM)
